"Cleopatra gets the dazzle. And at Buxton there was plenty of it from a captivating young soprano, Ellie Neate, who shone dramatically and vocally... she’s an artist with a future.” Opera Now 2022

For the 24/25 season Ellie will make debuts with Opera Rara in their salon recital series, for Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park as Sylviane in The Merry Widow, and Opera North where she will perform Papagena in The Magic Flute Lite. In the summer she will return to Waterperry Opera Festival as Zerlina in Don Giovanni. Earlier in the season she performed for the Family Sunday programme at the Royal Ballet and Opera, covered Tytania A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Papagena The Magic Flute with Opera North, and returned to the English National Opera to cover the role of Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance.

Previously Ellie performed Daughter 1 in Philip Glass’ Akhnaten, Celia Iolanthe, and covered the role of Elsie Maynard The Yeomen of the Guard for the ENO. For Buxton International Festival she sang Lisa La Sonnambula, Elisa Il Re Pastore and Cleopatra Marc’Antonio e Cleopatra, and for Waterperry Opera as Galatea Acis and Galatea, Milica Svadba and Maria Bertram Mansfield Park.

Other opera experience includes Cunegonde Candide for Blackheath Halls Community Opera, Gretel Hansel and Gretel for British Youth Opera for which she won the Basil A Turner Award, and Lucy The Telephone, La Fée Cendrillon (Viardot), and Laurette Le docteur Miracle (Bizet) at the Guildhall School.

In concert Ellie has sung Adès’ Five Eliot Landscapes at Oxford Lieder Festival, in a BBC Radio 3 broadcast from Wigmore Hall, Carmina Burana with the London Symphony Chorus in Barbican Hall, and for ENO does Eurovision. She also recorded the soundtrack for the Disney+ television series Rivals.

Ellie graduated from the Guildhall School opera course in 2022, where her studies were generously supported by The Fishmongers’ Company and Help Musicians UK.
